Collection: The Guardian of Time

The Guardian of Time - nigelryan.art

The Guardian of Time is a love letter to London, seen through the image of its most recognisable symbol. For many, Big Ben is more than a clock tower. It is London itself. Its rhythm measures not only time but life, the hum of the city, the pause between breaths, and the quiet reassurance that some things endure.

Captured on a single evening, this collection presents three interpretations of Big Ben, each revealing a different emotion; grandeur, intimacy, and reflection. Standing beneath it, you can feel the weight of history and the pull of belonging. Its face has watched generations pass, its voice marking the moments that shape who we are.

The tower’s presence is both steady and human, elegant yet familiar, timeless yet alive with memory. Through these works, I wanted to capture not only what Big Ben looks like but what it means; the quiet pride of being part of something lasting, the comfort of hearing it through the London air, and the knowledge that even as the city changes, its heart continues to beat.
