Artist’s note
I photographed this tree at Buttermere in persistent winter rain. It was cold enough to feel through my clothes, but I wanted to stay with the muted tones of the field and the mountains beyond. I worked in camera, with minimal editing afterwards, keeping the rain and overcast light in the photograph.
