Artist’s note
These abandoned boats led me to wonder about the journeys they had made, and whether they would ever go out again. I photographed their peeling paint, weathered hulls and still masts. A poem I wrote about the boats sits alongside the image.

I dream of those that went and came ...But not of those who came and went And I can't help but wonder whether Those boats had any adventures Or if they will or even can in the future... The tide comes and goes, no longer embracing them Their masts stand still, they've forgotten how to reach for the wind Paint peeling, hulls marked by time Stories held in the silence beside the waves They once crossed horizons, where sea met sky Now they rest in the quiet of forgotten shale Shadows of journeys linger, murmuring through the wood Muffled memories of salt and sun
